Welcome to 2008!

First off the bat is of course wishing you all a Happy New Year :)

We had an outrageously quiet and understated New Year's Eve. Kendo played EQ2 online and I sat knitting. Yet another continuation of our ongoing Rock n Rock lifestyle. More on the knitting when said article is finish (but don't hold your breathe, it really isn't that exciting!).

I'm not really a big one for New Year Resolutions. Mostly because I've invariably broken them by around the 3rd January (if I even manage to last that long!). I am going for a list of things that I want to accomplish in the year though, and here it is.

1) Keep it simple

Ever the one for over complicating things, this year I'm going to strive to keep it simple. To concentrate on the important and to not sweat the small stuff. In keeping with the "keep it simple" motto for the year we have (in case you hadn't noticed) a new look Cookie with a more streamlined, simple look (and bizarrely, belying the blog title, not a cookie pic in sight!).

2) Learn to say "No"

I've come to realised (increasingly over the last year) that I have real issues with saying no when people ask me to do stuff for them (because I'm just too nice I guess ;)). Unfortunately it tends to leave me with way too much on my plate, and means I lose focus on the things that I really should be doing for myself and my family, which I guess links in with point #1

3) Finish things

I'm not a finisher. That much being abundantly obvious to any of you who've been keeping up with the blog since it started. I tend to get gung ho about a new project, go at it all guns blazing for a while and then lose interest and things peeter out. So, this year, I'm going to try to finish what I start, before moving on to other projects.

So, that's it. Those are my "non-resolutions" for 2008.

Lets hope it's a good one (and that we can escape January without the annual impromptu hospital visit (that's one tradition I can do without keeping up!!)).

A couple of important things in the line up for this year. Gracie is turning 4 at the end of the week (gulp) and will be starting "Big School" in the autumn. July will see our 10th wedding anniversary (yes, it really HAS been that long!), as well as the last year of Kendo's 30s (as the old duffer is turning 40 in 2009). Hopefully 2008 will see lots of crafty projects (paper and fabric and any other new and exciting mediums I may discover), plenty of cupcake and cookie baking (because there can never be too much of that if you ask me), and lots of regular blog posting (but I won't promise anything, because we all know what happens when that happens ;))

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL (once more).
